Goa is witnessing hectic political activity before an election of an intensity never witnessed earlier. Seasoned politicians as well as newcomers are changing their political affiliations at the drop of a hat. There could be several reasons for these politicians moving from one party to another. It could be anything from not being promised a party ticket to not being sure of winning the elections with the present political party. Financial considerations could also have played a major role. However in the case of the Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco who has resigned from the Congress party it must be said that he was not only allotted the party ticket but was also sure of getting elected. He preferred to change the party probably without even consulting the electorate of his constituency. Not taking the electorate in confidence about the change in the party could be their undoing. It will now depend on the ability of the politician in question on how he/she can convince the supporters and the voters in general. How they respond to their elected representatives' sudden jump to another party will define the success or failure of the politician in question.
