The literary prizes of Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) were presented to the writers at the hands of Fr Pedro Costa at Carmel College, Nuvem recently. “It is a well deserved credit given to late Fr Conceicao D’Silva by DKA by naming the Konknni Sahityik Spordha (Konkani literary competition) in his name,” stated Fr Pedro Costa, parish priest of Our Lady of Livra Febres Church, Consua. Fr Pedro was closely associated with Fr Conceicao earlier as the assistant parish priest of Raia Church for the last four years. William Barretto, Vincy Quadros, William Fernandes and Celso Fernandes were on the dais. Fr Pedro Costa and William Barretto gave away the prizes to the winners. The competition was held in various categories, essay, poetry, short stories, one act plays and kantara writing. There were two categories in kantar writing “ Konkani language and open subject. “Fr Conceicao’s contribution to Dalgado Konknni Akademi and Konkani language is unforgettable. His demise means a great loss to DKA, and naming the literary competition in his name is a befitting tribute to him,” said DKA president Vincy Quadros.
