The first 19 days of May 2021, hardly 2/3rds of the month, saw the highest number of Covid related deaths in India -75,000! This surpassed April 2021-49,000 deaths. May 19 saw TN, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala throwing up 30,000 plus cases with the first 2 States losing 594 and 468 citizens respectively! And Goa govt demands the High Court remove the requirements for RT-PCR negative certificates from those entering Goa! Goa has been losing 56 people on average per day! What's the logic?
Goa saw the hospitality and industry ‘entrepreneurs’ boldly put their names before demands to open the State with no restrictions to parties, night curfews, etc . So, do we listen to their demands that the retailers and distributors be made frontline workers to get the jab preference? Their employers cannot be considered frontline workers as they take no risks. Then why can’t the latter pay for the jab at private hospitals of their bread winners? Now, there are NGOs giving food to GMC patients free of cost! Are they not at a greater risk? Are they being paid a salary or earning profits for the NGOs?
