Political parties in Goa are feverishly gearing up for the next assembly elections, with some, promising sops such as free electricity up to 300 units, free drinking water up to 16,000 litres per month to every household, etc.
The question therefore is why have they waited for so long and what were our elected representatives doing during the past 4 years? Have we voted them to power only for one year? Do we have to tell them now and again how they have failed to give the people of their constituencies the basic amenities of a decent livelihood such as regular drinking water supply, a 24x7 uninterrupted power supply, potholed-free and motorable roads, a civilized form of public transport system, affordable rickshaw and taxi fares, etc which are essential ingredients of good governance?
Very soon they will be once again at our doorstep with folded hands begging for votes and promising a few more sops. Can we ever trust these turncoats who keep betraying their voters by switching parties for their own political gains and survival?
People in Goa have had enough of such party hoppers and betrayers and wish to teach them a lesson. But how? Will someone show us the way for change and good governance?
