The government of India plans to waive the tax on vaccines and other medicines related to the Coronavirus.
This is definitely a good move as it will bring down the cost of medicines. A patent waive is also sought from major drug producers.
The pharmaceutical industry, however claims that due to this move, the cost of drugs will increase as supply of raw materials to them will be affected.
Any waiver of tax would in effect be counterproductive according to them.
This brings to focus if these pharma companies are seeking to maximize their profits.
