What Sam Pitroda had said about the ethnography of the Indian population is not very wrong. The only thing that was wrong about it were the words used and the timing of it which was during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Modi and the saffron brigade pounced upon the colour of skin mentioned by Pitroda for electoral advantage. It is a fact that humanity originated in Middle Africa and they migrated northwards and some branched towards Europe and the others towards Asia. Thus those dark in complexion among the Indian population may have stronger links with Africa. That people of the North East have Mongoloid links is common knowledge. The same way the people of the Indian Western coast had strong trade links with the Arabs and intermingling happened with the indigenous population which is again accepted by the Bori Muslims in Dakshin Kannada, the Moplahs from North Malabar and up to Bhatkal in North Karnataka as also the Dawoodi Bohra community. The problem is that the Congress relies on their ageing leaders who are better suited to be retired and put on the shelf and hence such gaffes.
