Political neglect fuelling law and order crisis

I am writing to express grave concern over the escalating law and order crisis in Goa. The situation has deteriorated to the extent of gang wars and extortion. Recent news of assaults on law enforcement officers raises serious questions about the capability of the authorities to maintain order.

Goa, being a tourist state, cannot afford to add one more issue to the already struggling tourism industry. The industry is receiving heavy criticism due to issues such as taxi mafias, poor infrastructure, and conflicts between locals and tourists arising from rent-a-vehicle accidents. Accidents are also on the rise. Additionally, there are issues with underage riders and rash drivers.

The primary reason behind this deteriorating situation appears to be the political scenario, whose decisions seem to have emboldened citizens with criminal intentions. For example, how would a criminal-minded individual perceive the news that illegal houses can be legalised? I hope the authorities take cognisance of these issues and take the necessary steps to address the law and order situation in Goa to safeguard the interests of both locals and tourists.
