Problems at sub-district hospital in Margao

The sub-district hospital in Margao reveals significant issues. In the OPD, doctors listed outside different rooms fail to attend patients on scheduled days, leading to long queues. Inefficient management results in inexperienced doctors providing care, prescribing tests without understanding the patient’s condition. The in-charge doctor prioritizes private practice over public service, offering limited time to those in need.

Despite claims of emergency duties at GMC, excuses prevail for neglecting patients. The proposed second sub-district hospital in Curchorem seems misguided when the existing South district hospital struggles. Nighttime emergencies expose staff negligence, as they switch off lights and sleep, requiring visitors to intervene. The overall service fails the common man unable to afford high fees, turning healthcare into a profit-driven venture for doctors. Addressing these issues is crucial before considering new healthcare facilities.
