Praful Patel, a politician continues to interfere in the CoP /SC matters. Imagine, calling a zoom meeting with 35 member States as outside interference. This is typical of politicians here including in the Goan Football Association (GFA). AFC must be strict including caling for not holding of the U-17 Women’s World Cup if necessary. All the current IFA members and AIFF must be removed.
Here, the GFA has been controlled by 2 types of people: politicians and First Division club members both of which had their own axe to grind. Just like the government we need professional managers to run the GFA. Temporarily, they must give equal representation to all clubs from all over Goa. GFA is a ‘small’ unit not like Goa. There can be full participation. Every year the same activities take place in the same fashion: no change. Without change, quality will not improve. Objectives must be given. See how Durand Cup organisers are working. Coaches selected for the Nationals must be tasked with the final and semis berth. Village matches must rope in past players to give pointers to the players after every match. Goans were known for scoring from different angles. Instead of highest goals scored, reward innovative goal scorers. Pull up players whose shots land on the goal line: all shots must bulge the nets. This must be the objective. The former comes about by habit when forwards give the goalies catching practice during warm-ups. This job must be for defenders alone.
