Provide fiscal relief during lockdown

The Coronavirus-induced lockdown led to displacement of millions of migrants, job losses, and economy hitting rock-bottom level. The state government should provide Covid relief to those whose livelihood has been affected by the Covid-19 induced shutdown.  In some states, governments had given financial packages to various sectors during the Covid first wave.  As the current restrictions have affected the livelihood of those with unorganised sector and farmers, to mitigate its impact the government should stand by the people during this difficult time.  Besides that auto, taxi, maxi cab drivers, construction workers, etc are suffering loss of income.  

Under the prevailing circumstances, daily or contract wage earners are the worst-hit because they are dependent on their daily earnings to meet the basic needs.  The scale of the humanitarian disaster is significant.  While everyone understands the need for the lockdown, millions of workers are affected.  Whenever the economy is allowed to revive, people will not have money to spend.  One of the important functions of the government is to provide a certain kind of reassurance in the face of uncertainty.

‘Black fungus’ preys on Covid patients

States across India have begun declaring a "black fungus" epidemic as cases of the fatal infection shoot up in patients recovering from Covid -19. The fungal disease, called mucormycosis, has a 50% mortality rate.
