As on August 8 at 12:30 pm, workers undertaking the work of joining the main electrical wires over electricity poles near ‘Khadpabandh Gardens’ complex at Khadpabandh in Ponda were noticed without any safety kit.
They neither wore safety belt nor a helmet. Such a situation can prove dangerous to their lives. In case they lose balance at a higher location, they would indeed have fallen to the ground thereby leading to their unfortunate death.
There are many such instances that have occurred in the past wherein linesmen and workers have either been seriously injured or have lost their precious lives on the spot.
Such workers lack safety kit and hence their innocent lives remained subjected to great risk and danger.
Officials at the electricity department must be sympathetic to this serious matter and see to it that the much needed safety kit is provided so that workers remain safe.
In case the said work is allotted to any contractor, the said party must be advised to provide the safety kit for workers compulsorily before commencement of the necessary maintenance work.
