In Colva Village, there are numerous illegalities there already or coming up and should any villager complain to the sarpanch, panchas, the revert is for the said villager to file the complaint and then only the panchayat will act. This makes the complainant a target of those committing the illegal act or acts and many times the complainants are aged people or say women, it makes the targeting worse. In my view, the panchas are just using this as an excuse to safeguard a vote bank or financial contributions from those involved in the illegalities. The illegalities are in clear view and I don’t understand what’s stopping the sarpanch, secretary from taking suo moto action as they are clearly aware of the laws. Can I request the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho to please address this urgently and set up a confidential way of filing complaints, as we see in many civilized countries around the world. Then only I can say there is some positive outcome of “double engine sarkar” else it’s all a marketing farce.
