The death of Ajit Pawar is being viewed as suspicious by several leaders. Questions have been raised about how the plane crashed at the Baramati table-top runway. NCP leaders Amol Mitkari and Rohit Pawar have both demanded clarity. Rohit Pawar held a press conference, gave a presentation and listed several questions about the sequence of events. Amol Mitkari said he does not believe it was an accident and expressed doubts about the circumstances.
Among the key questions raised: why has the black box data not been made public, why were the pilots changed, and why was the aircraft changed. Ajit Pawar usually travelled in a black aircraft, but on the day of the crash a white plane from VSR company was used. It has also been claimed that the pilot scheduled to fly was late due to a traffic jam and was replaced.
Leaders questioned how a traffic jam could happen early in the morning. Another question raised is why only five bodies were reportedly recovered when six people were said to be on board.
Some locals in Baramati said they heard the aircraft coming in tilted away from the runway, followed by a loud explosion. NCP members are expected to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking a detailed probe by a special team.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has also called for an enquiry. Citizens say they are waiting for the truth, including details from the black box and the final conversation between the pilots.
