Rainwater collecting in Siolim fountain cause for concern

As member of the Village Health and Sanitation committee and Convenor of the Siolim Civic and Consumer Forum, it was brought to the notice of the Sanitary Inspector Shripad Gawas that the defunct water fountain built by WRD near St Anthony's Church, Siolim in the beautification area is full with rainwater and it could be a cause of concern for breeding of mosquitoes which in turn could cause vector borne diseases and keeping with the occasion of State Consumer's Rights  celebrated in the state, the Forum has been actively keeping a vigil in such areas that could be hotspots of malaria or dengue in the village . It is better to take precautions before it is too late. The Sanitary Inspector  has released guppy fishes into the tank and the forum has requested the Inspector to write to the Panchayat to cover the tank if the fountain cannot be maintained or put into operation. The forum's convenor  said he would write to the Sarpanch of Siolim-Marna and also suggest for proper maintenance and beautification of the water fountain in the coming gram sabha.
