Religion being truly reduced to political prop

You will often see saffron-clad sadhus crowding BJP events across Bengal and in other election bound states, raising one slogan in unison - "Hindu khatrey mein hai." They speak of unity, of dharma, of impending doom and of a cause bigger than themselves. Many sadhus, fakeers and purported Godmen came for Amit Shah's rally in Kolkata held in support of Suvendu Adhikari's nomination. Some of these dubious characters admit they were brought here by BJP for Rs 500. Yes, Rs 500 to chant slogans in support of the saffron dispensation, all hard earned taxpayers' money. Rs 500 to become the face of a manufactured narrative and to sell the illusion of a threatened identity. Hinduism is in danger, yes... from these self proclaimed defenders of the faith. Religion is merely reduced to a political prop, the only true religion seems to be money.
