Educationist Winnie Silva of Majorda passed away on May 12 , days after heart surgery. She was the daughter of late Marcel and Theresa Fernandes. Her mother educated her and her siblings after her father's death with the support of her maternal family. She later assumed responsibiiity of eduation of her siblings. Winnie joIned as a teacher at St Anthony's High School, Majorda and was respected and admired as a compassionate teacher. She completed BEd by correspondence course.She was posted as the Headmistress of Rosary High School Navelim, the biggest school of DSE because of her abilities. She was transferred to St Jude High School Betalbatim from where she retired. A pious person steeped in spirituality was most sought after for spontaneous prayer services and as a favourite toast master on many occasions. A good organiser, leader to plan and manage all her family functions, she kept the family united by maintaining excellent relations. She had recently a bypass surgery but due to other complications of pressure and diabetes, she did not survive in spite of best medical interventions.
PWD must rectify chamber plates along Miramar road
I have already requested PWD several times to rectify these chambers which are badly designed as the mud or even small tiny bottles and plastic enters into these existing holes which CCP staff cannot supervise round the clock. I have requested to inspect all these chambers which are on line upto Miramar. The level with the road is not adjusted well during repairs as vehicles while passing over it experience bumpy ride.
