This year Margao municipality which is also known as Camara Municipal de Salcete will be celebrating its 116th anniversary. But it is sad to see that this Goa’s top A grade municipality is in dire straits.
Apart from maintenance, the building urgently needs a fresh coat of paint. The chairs of the staffers are in a pathetic condition. If one visits the municipality office, you can see the broken chairs on which the staffers are made to sit. Inquiries have revealed that these chairs have not been changed for almost 15 years.
Despite the MMC getting huge income in terms of house tax and other taxes, one fails to understand why the staffers are made to sit on broken chairs.
Hope that the city leaders, Margao municipality CO Agnelo and the government open their eyes to this issue and take care of this historical building.
