Retiement of Dhoni's No. 7 jersey apt honour for legend

Retiement of Dhoni's No. 7 jersey apt honour for legend

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared jersey No. 7 retired after Mahendra Singh Dhoni declared his retirement from cricket. On December 15, 2023, the BCCI decided to retire the jersey which was Dhoni's pride and will not be used by any other cricketer in India.

Dhoni's favourite and lucky No. 7 is due to his birthday on July 7. The same was decided in 2017 for jersey No. 10 belonging to master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. The two jerseys - No. 7 and No. 10 will no longer be used by Indian cricketers and is retired by the BCCI.

This is a mark of respect to the two legendary players whose jersey number will be kept as a unique number. Both Sachin and Dhoni have contributed to Indian cricket and have many records to their name. It's an apt honour.
