The 'retirement at 75' diktat for BJP office bearers is just a ruse; they can always make an exception for an incumbent prime minister. Mothership RSS has sensed the public pulse, and Modi is now emerging as a political liability for the BJP too. The fragile house of cards built over 11 years on a foundation of fake news, lies, bigotry, hatemongering, extinguishing democratic rights, and pulverisation of minorities might just implode overnight.
History is witness to the fact that authoritarians aren't de-pedestaled in segments; their downfall is usually precipitous. The egregious vote disenfranchisement exercise underway in Bihar is a last-gasp gamble, a critical bet for the saffron party; a defeat there could be cataclysmic and would have a domino effect.
RSS is apprehensive that post Operation Sindoor, even the chest-beating, hyper-deshbhakti pitch is falling flat. The common man has seen through the chicanery. And since Modi is BJP and BJP is Modi, the party may soon face a drubbing at the hustings. A change of guard may very well alter the political narrative.
The onus now is on the opposition to stay united and seize the day. Change is in the air, and for the better, hopefully.
