Aguada fort is one of the oldest fort in Goa which is remembered for its struggle for freedom. This fort is the place where many freedom fighters from Goa and across the country were locked up for many years. Late Nagesh Karmali who breathed his last few days back was also in this jail for 5 years.
The recent introduction of bar with drinks and brunch is not a welcome move in the name of food court near the fort. The fort should remain as a historical place for the new generation to study and get have knowledge of the freedom struggle.
If the same is projected as a picnic and a tourist spot then it will lose its identity and will be remembered for only a site like any other beaches of Goa.
The government should rethink the permission for a bar at this historic place to preserve our old heritage and history.
