A man from Taleigao was reportedly handed over to the Panjim Police Station on Thursday late evening by a group of youngsters belonging to a right-wing organisation for allegedly stopping devotees/firing bad words while they were taking palki of Shri Kshetrapal Damodar Saunthan, Durgawadi Taleigao. Yes, if the man has really committed the above offence or has hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community then he should be punished. But at the same time I would like to know why our cops get activated only when it comes to arresting people of certain faiths? For example, when the Christian community had filed so many FIRs at different police stations in the state recently and had demanded the arrest of former RSS chief Subhash Velingkar for making derogatory remarks against St Francis Xavier in a widely circulated video, he was protected, went into hiding and was not arrested by the Goa Police. I think that the BJP government's much hyped 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' slogan is nothing but a big joke because it looks like this government is following two separate set of rules in the state when it comes to giving justice for people of different faiths.
