The scrapping of 15-yr-old vehicles owing to pollution by the central government does not hold good for Goa. If at all this legislation is implemented, it should especially apply to the metros where one household has more than one vehicle. Goa is a small state surrounded by natural greenery, mountains and the sea. The pollution level will be very negligible as compared to the large cities. Will the government want to start with their own vehicles, as they are not at all at any loss, as the new purchases will be at cost of the tax payers. Secondly, this will help only the auto industry to sell new vehicles and fill the government coffers with the taxes levied on the vehicles.
People are slowly recovering from the pandemic and prices of essential commodities increasing day by day, so replacing the old vehicles would be a big burden on their economics. So it's time people oppose this legislation very strongly before it's implemented.
