Amid the hijab row in Karnataka, pictures have emerged of students of two schools offering namaz in classrooms. We have been witness to confrontations between hijab wearing students and another group wearing saffron stoles and turbans. A girl from the minority community was heckled by boys from the majority faith for attending college wearing a traditional dress. In both cases it is the politicians who have orchestrated this inflaming of passions fo milk benefits at the hustings for their survival. The matter has reached the High Court for resolution and in a knee jerk reaction the government has closed all colleges and schools for three days.
Dakshin Kannada is possibly being tested as a laboratory by right wing majoritarian outfits to further deepen the religious schism between Hindus and Muslims. Laughably these thugs have accused the poor girls of using strong arm tactics to reinforce their religious identity, it is to be noted that they have been wearing it for years; why this state of affairs now. We are at the tipping point, on the edge oblivion; one more small push by these selfish politicians and it will be all but over for India. Only God can save us now.
