Shame on police for not arresting Velingkar

The High Court of Bombay, at Goa on Thursday instructed former RSS chief Subhash Velingkar to appear before the Bicholim police on the same day itself i.e. October 10  at 4 pm to join the investigation based on a plea filed by him through his counsel not to arrest him and that he would voluntarily go to the above mentioned police station and henceforth cooperate with the police team at any given time. Well, it looks like Velingkar has really  played (of course, with the full backing/support of CM Sawant) his mind-game extremely well by stubbornly refusing to go in jail under some pretext or the other. As expectedly, the appointed investigation officer will keep saying that Velingkar is fully cooperating with the police and there is no need of his arrest to bluff all those who are still demanding his arrest for his remarks on St Francis Xavier. Shame on the Goa Police for not arresting this man at the behest of the BJP government despite of knowing everything about the seriousness of his crime. The State BJP government has indeed backed/protected/used this legendary hate-monger specialist Velingkar right from day one for its own political benefit/to distract people from real issues like unemployment, protests against land conversions, hill cutting, etc.

With the Colva Fama coming up next week, I do hope that the respective authorities including the Colva panchayat ensure that adequate arrangements are made for cleanliness, hygiene, garbage/waste management, strict monitoring of the area, stiff penalties to defaulters, etc. It does not make sense that this highly popular  event in Salcete messes up the place; which surely goes against the true spirit of the religious event. Hope all Colvenkars agree and also speak up…
