The recent statement given by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho gives a clear indication regarding what is in store for the people of South Goa if the Dabolim airport is shut.
The most affected will be taxi operators who will never be allotted a stand at Mopa because the airport is private.
Godinho is not ready to discuss with taximen citing court order and doesn't want to listen their genuine views.
The taxi operators are dependent on tourists for sustenance and the minister should be aware of this but still he insists on introducing an app and continues to threaten them to join the app-based system.
Godinho should understand that app-based taxis are not at all feasible in Goa considering the total population and that the Goan public hardly uses taxis.
Something sounds fishy and this app-based system is surely not in the interest of Goans.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should step in and address the issue as it looks like Godinho is trying to snatch the bread and butter from taximen.
