It is sad and shocking to see Goa gripped by the drug menace. The Bollywood movies have created an image of Goa which portrays the State as a place for fun and merriment by consuming drugs and alcohol. Drugs are easily available, and this easy availability has resulted in many of our youth falling prey to addiction. It goes without saying that there is huge money involved in the drug trade. Looking at the present scenario, one needs to ask what is the future of our youth? It is also time to ask whether the State Government is serious about dealing with this menace. We hear or read about small drug raids now and then. These are just for public consumption and the big dealers are having a free run in league with politicians and the police.
