The Congress is a spent force and has outlived its utility. It is like a rudderless ship drifting on the high seas without a captain. The Congress high command must come to terms with this harsh reality and reinvent itself, retaining the Congress ethos while letting loose of the controls.
I suggest that the party splits into strong state-level units independent of the Centre and name itself after the states e.g. Bangla Congress Party, Andhra Congress Party, Goa Congress Party, etc. Each state party must function without any external interference or high command. It is possible then that each state party will throw up a strong leader, like the CMs of Telengana, Andhra, Orissa etc. At the national level, these state Congress parties may have may forge alliances to contest Lok Sabha elections. A national-level steering party may be formed to look after national issues. Decisions may be taken by consensus.
