Edward Joseph Snowden and Julian Assange are wanted for having had the guts to reveal secret information of the US government which was being hidden from public discourse. Snowden was a contractor for the National Security Agency and published classified documents which showed surveillance programmes by the NSA with which he was disillusioned with. He disclosed these surveillance details in 2013. He later defected to Russia where he is being given political asylum.
Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks in 2006, an Australian editor, publisher and activist provided classified documents into the public domain about the illegal invasion of Iraq and the war in Afghanistan for which he is fighting extradition to the United States. He had been seeking refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London. Several million supporters of Julian Assange are seeking his release as a prisoner of conscience. The court hearing his extradition to the US should give fair and equitable justice to Assange and not be swayed by the sleight of hand of the US authorities where he is likely to be imprisoned for life.
