Spare a thought for birds this summer

Spare a thought for birds this summer

Birds of different types and colours add beauty and colour to the world. Like humans, they need food, water and shelter to survive. They don't harm us nor expect anything from us but they suffer a lot due to human behaviour.

We use them for entertainment, disturb their rest by loud music and noise, deny them water by polluting  the water bodies and destroy their shelter by cutting trees.

Not long ago, in my green village there were about 50 species of birds. Today there are hardly 20. Even the common crows are few. The only bird that we see everywhere is the kingfisher on bottles of beer.

To beat the summer heat we drink liquids and juices, bathe daily and swim in pools filled with 50 kilolitres of water but we will not provide even a little for the birds to survive. How selfish and cruel can we be.

This summer, can we spare a thought for the birds and keep a bowl of  water for them in some suitable place ? If so, let us do it today.  Tomorrow never comes.
