The Covid-19 pandemic figures make for very grim reading.A little over thirty-two million have tested positive in the world for thedisease. In India, six million have tested positive. The global death toll hascrossed one million. Several advanced countries like the US, Brazil, UK, Italy,Spain as well as India are having a very tough time controlling the pandemic. The last week tally of Covid-19 casualties in India is 7,700 and Goa hasalready registered 407 fatalities. It is here that we must appreciate theyeoman services that our doctors, nurses, health workers, laboratory testingpersonnel and all the other frontline personnel are rendering. They have beenputting their own lives at risk in order to treat and tend to those unfortunateones who have been tested positive for the coronavirus. It should be ourendeavour to ensure that these frontline workers are given their due as theyhave become heroes of the pandemic. It is also hoped that companies striving todevelop vaccines, may succeed and thus save the world from this dangerouspandemic.
