Every day we read about some crime or the other that occurs in Goa which was once considered as a laid-back place for rest and relaxation. The crimes are of different degrees either a chain snatching, robbery, assault, murder etc. and happen at any time of the day and night and places (roads, houses, shops, ATMs). Even temples, churches, and chapels are not spared by the robbers. Some thieves even have an audacity to pray before robbing from or carrying away the donation boxes! Police and government advice the citizens to be wary and install CCTVs and many shops, places of worships, offices, homes and buildings do have CCTVs and security persons yet crimes take place. The authorities could increase police patrolling, check if the CCTVs are in working conditions, informers and carry out other safety measures. Two days back, three government offices at Bicholim were robbed, ironically Rs.56,000 was stolen from an insurance company (hope it was insured). Were there any functional CCTVs and security for those offices? If not, why?
