Sports Minister on a mission

After a long time we have a sports minister who is on mission to put his department in order. This was amply clear after his visits to various gymnasiums, playgrounds in villages and also stadiums.

After inspecting he came to the conclusion that apart from the need for infrastructure, there was also a need to bring in discipline among the officials and coaches.

This is the first time that any sports minister has undertaken this initiative. It looks like Govind Gaude means business and is on a mission to take sports to a higher level. This will indeed be a big boost to talented sports persons.

But there is a big problem which I foresee. Without the help and support of officials, nothing will move forward.

We have good coaches and PE teachers in Goa but what is lacking is the attitude and the will to put in more hours on the field to spot talented boys and girls.

The minister, ideally after a few requests, must crack down on dead wood in his department. The time has come to clear the chaff from the grain.
