It is sad and shocking to see members of Bajrang Dal going to Uday Bhembre’s house and demanding an explanation for his remark on Shivaji. Udaybab is a respected person, a former MLA, and a well-known writer. He always speaks sensibly, but his words have been taken the wrong way.
Everyone respects Shivaji, the hero of the nation, but if he were alive today, he would be upset to see what is happening in his name. In this century, people are insulting and hurting each other, questioning senior citizens by entering their homes at night, and opposing the food habits of people from other religions. Muslim rulers and Christian saints are being targeted as if they have returned after 500 years.
The law and order situation in Goa is collapsing, and the Chief Minister is helpless in handling the State. Groups are behaving like gangsters in the name of Shivaji, making Goa look like Bihar. If this situation is not controlled, problems will get out of hand, and the Goa Police will be blamed. Many politicians have strongly supported Udaybab and shown him respect. True Goan Hindus know what is happening. We, Goan Hindus, Muslims, and Christians, have always celebrated each other’s festivals as brothers and sisters. But today, in the name of Shivaji and religion, certain groups are dividing people.
We will say “Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai” from our hearts, but not if someone forces us. Please stop playing politics with Shivaji’s name and creating divisions in Goa. People need jobs to take care of their families, and there are far more important issues to fight for. The government should ban all groups that are destroying Goa’s peaceful atmosphere. Udaybab, the people of Goa stand with you. You are a responsible and respected Hindu who treats all religions equally.
