Streamline traffic near Belem junction

Since the opening of the new western bypass for the vehicular movement at Belem junction at Navelim, several accidents have taken place.

Some even lost their lives. After a few accidents in the same vicinity, the local residents gave practical suggestions to the concerned authorities to avoid such accidents in future.

Yet the authorities seem to be hibernating. Though the junction is wide enough with good signals, it is utterly dis-organised as there are many cross roads, service roads which are also two-ways.

Any driver will get confused after reaching the junction. To make the matters worse the roads after the junction towards Navelim and towards Jakniband bridge are dangerously narrow with sharp and blind turns.

On the same road before reaching Jakniband, trucks transporting heavy goods are parked on both sides that too disrupt the free flow of vehicles on the road.

It is high time that authorities such as PWD minister, local MLA, traffic police, panchayat leaders, highway authorities re-organise vehicular movement at the Belem junction.
