Streetlight fixtures along the Adpai jetty in Ponda have been found in a neglected condition on most occasions. Hence innocent travellers and pedestrians proceeding along this important jetty during the night face great inconvenience.
The female gender and senior citizens tend to be the worst sufferers. The maintenance staff of electricity department deputed at this strategic location often fail to undertake timely repairs and replacement of non-working fixtures.
Even the elected representatives at the village panchayat of Adpai-Durbhat overlook this important matter from time to time. Public at large remain to be the ultimate sufferers in the process.
As on February 3, one fixture along this jetty was found missing over the concerned electricity pole, another was noticed non-functional and four others existed in a faulty position.
Hence proper illumination over the road was hampered to a great extent. In public interest it is time for the higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda to take a note of above and arrange timely maintenance work.
