Modi came to Goa with his usual pitara of lies, half truths, polarising agenda, opposition bashing tropes, emphasized that he had a 'purana nata' with the state... and then flew back. The Rs 500 per head hired audience mainly from Maharashtra and Karnataka bore the speech in stoic silence, applauded seldom , enjoyed the refreshments and went back home. Of course he rained fire and brimstone on the Congress and branded the opposition parties as 'anti-national'. Modi sounds like a stuck broken record, he did not once mention about issues directly affecting Goans like the disastrous double tracking being undertaken for the benefit of industries in Karnataka , the Kalasa-Bhandura project which will deprive Goa of a large volume of the Mhadei's waters, the Tamnar project gobbling up forests, increase in coal handling and transportation playing havoc with Goans' health, unemployment , price rise of even staples etc. Modi conveniently forgot that the Centre has issued notices to 3,000 Goan farmers demanding that they return Rs 6,000 along with interest which they had received under some 'kisan samman' scheme. Come May 7, let us all right thinking people resolve to rid Goa of the saffron blight.
