While the Education Department is debating whether to switch over to the offline mode or the hybrid mode of learning, there is a new kid on the block who has hogged the limelight in the tuition arena -- Byjus App. The app named after its founder Byju Raveendran is the talk of the town for average students to make the grade to the prestigious IITs and IIMs. The app is the first of its kind launched in the country by roping in household celebrity Shah Rukh Khan. The fees charged are exorbitantly high and the gullible parents have parted with their hard-earned savings thinking that the latent potential in their wards would be exploited to the hilt. The modus operandi of the controversial Byjus App is to target average and below-average students by charging them exorbitant fees and in return give away a few freebies like laptops and dubious course material. The poor kids get baited hook, line, and sinker. Now, the parents have realized that all is not hunky-dory after realizing that the bright students make the cut and the average students remain average. Many parents who have stretched their finances to the limit and are unable to pay for the exorbitant tuition fees, Byjus have come out with a novel scheme of parents turning into debtors by getting them to sign up and pay EMIs with a company floated by them called Cash Float. In conclusion Byjus, a dirty business tactic, has to be thoroughly probed as it may turn out to be a slap on the education system.
