Time to outsource power distribution networks

The news report ' Goa bears the brunt of abrupt power cuts ' (TGE, June 3), is nothing new for the people of Goa who have been experiencing daily power outages for decades----something disgraceful for a small state like Goa with more than 2,000 power outages in 3 months , averaging 23 per day. Needless to say that the situation is worsening, despite the crores of rupees  spent on upgrading the system, and even more on the 'smart meter project for an outdated  power distribution system. It is now become very clear that the Goa electricity department is incapable of  handling and managing the power requirements of the state and day-to-day maintenance works.  The only alternative remaining now  is to outsource the work to some more competent agency. Enough is enough.
