Recently Goa reported one death case due to rabies. Goa has street dogs which are not vaccinated by Animal Husbandry department. Moreover we can find many dogs on streets and many are old and left on roads by the owners due to their age. The dogs are supposed to be most faithful friends of men. The rabies case has opened eyes of all the public. The main cases are found in North Goa which includes Bicholim, Dodamarg and nearby areas. According to Directorate of Health Services Goa saw human rabies case after five years.The patient expired in GMC while undergoing treatment. Now it's time to take care as the cases of dog bites are also on rise in villages and cities. All the dogs need to vaccinated and especially stray dogs must not be spared as they are main cause. Animal husbandry department needs to take quick action to make Goa rabies-free as it was in 2017.
