Goa is also becoming a hub for drug trafficking, and it is seen as a haven for criminals who find it easy to hide their identities here. The entertainment scene, western lifestyle, clothing, food, environment, and warm hospitality make Goa unique.
The growing casino culture brings risks of damaging the peaceful atmosphere. Alcohol is freely available, almost as common as water, and it’s becoming a concern. Meanwhile, greedy politicians are selling Goa at a rapid pace, bending laws for outsiders, even building access roads for them quickly. Today, Goa has no true rural areas left. The construction boom in remote locations, with villas for the super-rich, is putting pressure on the limited land available for future generations of Goans.
The uncontrolled influx of people is already changing the demographic landscape, and soon Goans may become a rare sight. The increasing demand for water, electricity, roads, and public safety is not being addressed, leaving local Goans to suffer from interrupted services. Regulation is urgently needed to control the sale of limited land and to ensure that essential services can be sustained.
