At many places in Benaulim, electrical junction boxes are left exposed, with fuses either being stolen or damaged. Cables snake through the enclosure without proper insulation or termination, posing a danger to humans and animals alike.
Also, with the onset of summers, dry leaves are seen collected at the base of transformer enclosures. Due to rising temperatures and the searing heat, there is every possibility of the leaves catching fire and damaging the electrical installations; many such incidents in the recent past have come to light. Would the panchayat authorities or the electricity department take action before a major tragedy occurs?
