South Central railway has cancelled all the trains departing and arriving at Vasco railway station. The daily Yeshwantpur train , Howrah express and Vailankani express have been cancelled due to double tracking work and signal issues from Castle rock. The trains have been cancelled during peak season when all the taxi drivers, rickshaw operators, pilots and small traders near railway station depend upon the trains for their livelihood. It is learnt that the double tracking has not affected coal transport which is going on full swing. The irony is that October to January first week is a tourist season and at this time the cancellation of trains has affected the business. The trains could have been accommodated from Vasco railway station as the trains leave early morning and late night. The government with railway authorities could have come to consensus as to operation of trains from Margao as an alternative so that the passengers are not put to hardship. The trains should be restored at the earliest so as to provide bread and butter for daily taxi, pilot and rickshaw operators.
