Vani was born in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu in 1945 and was named as Kalaivani. Gradually she was known as Vani and she sang more than 10,000 songs in various languages like Hindi, kannada, Malayalam,Telgu and Tamil.

Her song “bole re papi hara” and “hum ko man ki shakti dena” from Guddi were very famous.

Recently she was awarded with padmabushan by Government of India and had visitors to her house.

Her death remains mystery as she had no health issues and she was found dead in her house with injuries to her forehead. The same was alerted when her maid did not receive response after ringing the bell in the morning. We can only pray for her soul to rest in peace.
