Truck drivers should park safely during breakdown

Colvale police reportedly initiated action against owners of trucks that were parked along both sides of NH 66 in a bid to streamline traffic movement. The vehicles were obstructing traffic which in turn was leading to congestion on the Colvale stretch of the road. These trucks are seen parked at night as the drivers may be sleeping in the vehicle.

It is learnt that a court in Goa has reportedly ordered a driver of a tipper, accused in a 2017 case, to answer a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for parking a truck in a dangerous manner after it broke down on the National Highway at Pernem, which resulted in an accident  and death of a person. The accused had not taken measures to warn other vehicle drivers and a car crashed into his truck at night. If there is a breakdown of a truck then the vehicle needs to be moved away to a safe place so that it does not cause any obstruction. Parking lights need to be put on and the truck should have reflective tape on its body.
