The agitation and movement for an alternative bypass is kept alive by the Action Committee. Representations, meetings, suggestions with various authorities are continuously taken up by the Committee.
For the last 10 years our representative has cunningly taken the people for a joy ride. While promising the bypass, survey was never incorporated in the plan. There is nothing on record and as per authorities in PWD no serious attempt was ever made to get it accepted and forcefully present a genuine case. A massive publicity campaign was undertaken to bring the woes of the residents into sharp public focus.
The resolution adopted by gram sabha is the best thing that has happened at the behest of public agitating for bypass. The present MLA after repeated reminders at least held a first meeting with PWD officials where after forced arguments, lamely admitted of a plan already drawn. It is now crystal clear that the authorities kept this development under wraps. The instigated agitation by Sarzora Panchayat was deliberate when bypass was within Chinchinim jurisdiction.
How did Panchayat represent the bypass issue to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari without the presence of the present MLA. It was at best a photo ops for cheap publicity. Not a word, reaction or statement or acceptance for consideration by Gadkari. What is the content of the so called flimsy memorandum? The detailed file is already presented to Gadkari by Digambar Kamat and to PWD and to the NHA Minister it was presented by Cruz on behalf of the action committee. The delegation should have included those who been at the forefront of the cause and consulted on the contents of memorandum. It appears to be a deliberate attempt to derail the movement and discredit the present MLA.who has at least revived the issue even before the elections and doing his humble best to address it without usurping any credit for the same.
