The passport authority in Goa has no right and made an unlawful decision towards the cancellation of Goan birth origin. The Portuguese national law provides that Goans born before December 20, 1961, up to the third generation are entitled to Portuguese citizenship. Goans who seek a Portuguese passport do not intend to visit Portugal but for easy access to European countries for employment.
This should be noted by the passport officers before making a reckless decision while sitting in their chair. The government of India has also introduced PIO and OCI schemes by PM Manmohan Singh in 2011 during his good governance. The passport officers should retract their decision at the earliest without even giving notice to our Goan citizens. The government of Goa should act on this, and canceling this decision is wrong; the passport officer has no such authority to cancel the passport of Goan origin.
