This is with reference to the editorial, "Hope Murmu's call on forests, wildlife doesn't go unheard - The Goan Everyday 24 August 2023." The Editorial was thought provoking. Yes, the President may have touched a raw nerve with the government when she made a pitch to save forests in the Western Ghats. The President does seem to understand the importance of saving the ecology. In short, this should serve as a call to authorities all over the country to stop ecological destruction. Over the years, environmentalists have been crying themselves hoarse pleading with the authorities and the public at large, to stop destruction of the only planet which has life. Unfortunately however everything seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Your Editorial points out, the President's plea to save forests comes at a time when the people of Goa are fighting a pitched battle to save forests and wildlife. Well, we do hope the authorities and the public alike, wake up to the reality of the situation sooner than later. The clock is ticking, Time is running out!
