I write to express serious concern over the growing garbage problem across Goa. Piles of waste along roadsides have become a disturbing sight, harming public health, the environment, and wildlife. Improper waste disposal pollutes land and water, attracts pests, and creates unhealthy conditions for residents and tourists alike.
Goa is globally known for its natural beauty and tourism, yet the widespread garbage menace damages its image and threatens its economy. Despite being India’s smallest state, the government and local bodies have failed to implement effective waste management systems.
It is unfortunate that while citizens keep their homes clean, public spaces remain neglected. Authorities must strengthen waste collection, segregation, recycling, and disposal systems while encouraging public participation through awareness campaigns.
Cleanliness is essential for Goa’s health, pride, and tourism. The government must move beyond promises and take immediate action to restore Goa’s beauty and reputation.
