This is with reference to the report, "Students' groups clash at JNU over serving of non-veg food - The Goan Everyday, April 11, 2022." It seems like the virus of hate and violence has infested our places of learning even as the dreaded Coronavirus which has claimed thousand of lives, is on the wane. The hijab controversy in Karnataka has not died down as yet and now we have violent clashes in JNU over the issue of food. Where are we heading, one tends to ask? Our educational institutions are being turned into a battlefield with unnecessary issues being raked up from time to time. We need to get away from this narrow mindedness. India is a land of many cultures, castes, religions, many different beliefs. What we need at this moment is, tolerance. It seems like food is linked to religion. Do animals have a religion, one may be tempted to ask? Then why are we making a mountain out of molehill? We need to get over all such issues and move forward towards displaying our 'unity in diversity'!
