This is with reference to the report "Livid Rane lashes out at land conversion culprits......& ....To promote spiritual tourism...... - The Goan Everyday June 18, 2022.
I like the opening line of the report which says, conversion is the top political flavour in Goa. Yes, conversion has caught the attention of the authorities in Goa, conversions of all kinds. Religious conversions have caught the attention of the chief minister and so he is going all out to stop the so-called religions conversions. Now conversion of land had caught the attention of another minister in his government.
There is yet another kind of conversion prevalent in Goa today, and that is taking over houses of locals, putting them under house arrest and converting ownership of the house in their own name. In the meanwhile, another report caught my attention. The governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai has been on a tour of villages in Goa and visiting temples. Your news report says, he has spoken to the chief minister to promote what he called 'spiritual' tourism and showcase various religious places especially in villages and open it for tourists to promote village tourism and spiritual tourism, as Goa is a special gift of God to human beings. Can we embark on a journey of religious, spiritual tourism, understanding other religions and living in a spirit of brotherhood? That is the need of the hour for our beleaguered nation, torn apart especially by religion.
